D.C. 酒吧的社区 Lawyer of the Year Awards

With this newly instituted annual award, the D.C. 酒吧的社区 seeks to recognize and honor Community members who stand out in their respective practice areas by exhibiting excellence in the professional and personal lives, as well as dedication to the mission of the D.C. Bar and D.C. 酒吧的社区. The Lawyer of the Year Awards will be presented to a member of each of the 21 社区.

The winners of this award will be honored at the Bar’s annual conference in June 2024. 他们将获得一块牌匾, special recognition for their selection in this class, and free registration for the 领导力庆祝活动 dinner and awards ceremony.

Lawyer of the Year Award Selection Criteria and Timeline

The nomination period has been extended to April 19th. Feel free to self-nominate or submit a nomination on behalf of a member you feel embodies the qualities the D.C. 酒吧促进. 如有疑问，请发电子邮件 (电子邮件保护). Nomination forms for each Community can be found at the bottom of this page.

Eligible nominees MUST meet the following criteria:

1. 必须是现任国会议员.C. Bar and D.C. 澳博app社区(D).C. Bar membership requirement excludes LSC nominees)
2. Must have attended or presented at any D.C. Bar, CLE, Pro Bono Center, or 社区 event within the past two bar years (ex. for 2024, must have participated in 2021-2022, 2022-2023 to present at time of nomination).
3. Submit a Resume (optional if nominating someone else) and Statement of Accomplishments
4. Elected members of a Community Steering Committee or appointed members of the 社区 Committee are eligible but must recuse themselves from participating in any aspect of the selection process.

Criteria to consider in favor of a candidate when reviewing nominees (nonexhaustive):

1. Specific career accomplishments demonstrated by: peer review/recognition, 司法的成就, 出版物, 学习成绩, or other ground-breaking advancements in their specific practice area (i.e.、税法、刑法、侵权法等.)
2. 领导 and/or participation within the D.C. 酒吧和/或特定社区(i.e. D.C. 澳博app协会志愿澳博app代表.C. 大澳博app公会委员会.C. 澳博app事务及社区小组委员会)
3. 领导 and participation within the legal community as a whole
4. Pro Bono service (does not have to be with the D.C. Bar PBC)
5. 一般社区服务
6. Work to promote or enhance DEI within legal profession
7. 指导/与学生一起工作

Criteria NOT to be considered against a candidate when reviewing nominees:

1. 物理位置. The D.C. 酒吧的社区 boasts 18,000+ members from across the country. A nominee does not have to be a resident of D.C.在马里兰州或弗吉尼亚州获得资格.
2. Age, race, ethnicity, gender, 性取向, 政治面貌, religious affiliation or lack thereof, 身体残疾/能力, 社会经济地位, 法学院排名或GPA.
